Garforth Golf Club welcomed 120 golfers from across the UK to Leeds for the Dreamflight Charity Golf Day on Friday 5th July. It’s the fourth year in a row we’ve hosted the event organised by Head Pro Aidan Healey, who is an ambassador for the charity.
Everyone playing had a fantastic day and raised £21,000 for Dreamflight - taking the total to over £75,000 over the last four years. Dreamflight is a charity based in the UK which helps children with serious injury or disability, giving them the holiday of a lifetime in Orlando.
The sun was shining, and the course was in brilliant condition. The greens had been double cut and ironed and were running at 12 on the stimp meter, with several of the golfers from around the country saying they were the best they’d played on all year. The pins were tucked away in tricky spots which made the scoring extraordinary, especially from the winning team which consisted of four junior golfers from Garforth Golf Club – Sam McIntyre, Grace Gill, Ethan Harris and Sam Wilkinson!
After playing the course, all the competitors were rewarded with a two-course meal and plenty from behind the bar. Prizes were handed out by Club Captain Steve Carlisle, before a chance to spend some money on some incredible auction items including fourballs at Woburn Golf Club, Gullane Golf Club and Notts Hollinwell Golf Club, as well as tickets to the royal enclosure at Royal Ascot.
Enormous credit must go to Aidan for organising another brilliant day at our course, which was thoroughly enjoyable for everyone involved with a huge amount of money raised for a great cause.
There are photos from the day below with thanks to Olly Booth from Golfing Days who took the photos as well as providing live scoring on the day.
