Garforth Golf Club is proud of its history and heritage and the part it has played in the development of our great game in Yorkshire.

We can trace our proud history back to 1912, when a group of local golfing enthusiasts came together to establish the course. A year later, they asked the much-acclaimed Dr Alister Mackenzie to design the 18 holes, and the course that members and guests love so much today opened in 1913.

The course hosts many ‘McKenzie features’ which can be seen throughout many other McKenzie designed courses across the world including The Augusta National Golf Club, Royal Melbourne Golf Club and Lahinch Golf Club as well as Alwoodley Golf Club and Moortown Golf Club in Leeds. This is prevalent on the 7th and 11th two tiered McKenzie greens.

The course is known for its fast greens and challenging finish, with Cock Beck and Carr Beck meandering their way through the course. Cock Beck in particular has its own place in history, having been reputed to have run with blood during the Battle of Towton, the most infamous conflict of the War of the Roses in 1461.

We are proud of our course and facilities, making significant investments in both over recent years. Whether you are a scratch golfer or higher handicapper, we know our course will provide a test for you, whilst being playable should you hit your best shots.

Our course is ideally situated for golf trips to Leeds and golf trips to York, being just 15 minutes from Leeds and 20 minutes from York. We’re very close to Alwoodley Golf Club and Moortown Golf Club which are both ranked in the Top 100 courses in the UK, as well as being less than an hour from Ganton Golf Club which also appears on that list. Fulford Golf Club also comes very highly recommended and is within half an hour’s drive. We’re only 5 minutes from the M1 and 10 minutes from the M62 motorways, so ideal for a stop when travelling either North, South, East or West on your trip.

Although we’re an easy walk with the course being relatively flat and short walks from green to tee, we still have a halfway house where we’ll be pleased to offer you a selection of food and drink.

With over 100 years of heritage, we have grown into one of the most complete clubs in Leeds and have built an unrivalled team able to provide everything a member or visitor might need to get the most out of their time here at Garforth.

Our excellent clubhouse offers year-round enjoyment for all our members and guests. The balcony is a wonderful place to sit in the sunshine to chat about your round, overlooking the 18th, while a well-stocked bar, snooker table and Sky TV in our 19th Bar provide the perfect place to relive the highlights of your round or relax and unwind with friends.

Our intimate restaurant combines a fine dining experience with stunning views out over the course. We regularly host all manner of events, from weddings and birthdays through to corporate days and meetings, and our flexible packages ensure we can provide the perfect solution - no matter your requirements.
